Uzzano

Uzzano

Uzzano rises in Valdinievole, near Pescia. Its birth dates from the period Longobardo, although the name makes us bring to a first Roman settlement. The first documentation of the place stand around the year 1000. Initially owned by the family of noble lineage Lucchese family Longobarda, the Lords of Uzzano, Montichiari and Vivinaia. In 1202 the center became independent even though it remained employed by the city of Lucca. In the fourteenth century the country, like other municipalities in the Valdinievole, came under the dominion of Florence, until the Unification of Italy, when Uzzano and Valdinievole returned under the rule of Lucca. In 1928, with the creation of the Province of Pistoia, the towns of Valdinievole came to be part of the new province, which are currently attached.
